魔法や魔物が実在する現代世界。最凶の存在=ヴァンパイアと、人間が全面衝突した“ヴードゥー戦争”は、かろうじて人間の勝利に終わったが、人口は激減し、郊外には危険な“悪しき場所”が点在する。「魔物対策部隊」が治安維持にあたっているが、恐怖はおさまらない―そんな世界の片隅の町に、家族経営のコーヒーハウスがある。店の名物は、サンシャインと呼ばれる女性が作る、すてきなパンの数々だ。ある夜、サンシャインは馬鹿な行動をしてしまう。ひとりで郊外へドライブに出かけたのだ…。
